What Are The Parish Council up to ?

Our Parish Council are always telling us they are opposed to more housing. Below is an extract from BGPC's submission to the Local Development Framework, my recollection of a Parish Council meeting, and  a submission to the LDF made by Cemex that their landfill site to the north of Borough Green be considered for housing.

On the map below, the blue line shows the rough extension to the Parish Boundary, and the red areas are those currently scheduled for housing, owned by developers, or where housing applications have been tried.

I may be a cynical and suspicious old b****er, but I think they want to put houses there: should be able to squeeze in a thousand or so to add to those at Isles Quarry. What are they up to, and what won't they tell us?

TONBRIDGE AND MALLING ISSUES REPORT

(SEPTEMBER 2003)

Extract from Page 24:     032 Borough Green I/0098

Borough Green  Parish Council

The Parish of Borough Green will suffer for many years as a result of infilling of quarries to restore the despoiled land to agricultural use. It would wish to see adjustments to the Green Belt boundary to provide relief from the infilling of the pits. It would therefore not object to land within the proposed bypass between A227 and A25 (Wrotham School to Dark Hill roundabout) being taken out of the Green Belt. It would also support changes to the Green Belt boundary if tangible benefits to the Parish resulted from development of Isles Quarries by Hanson.

Chairman reported on a recent meeting with Hanson's Property Development Manager.

Permitted development rights for Isles Quarry East & West noted. A copy of Hanson's proposals for future      use of the land was passed for circulation.

(Curiously, every copy of those proposals have vanished)

Cemex made application to have their sandpit at Wrotham Rd Borough Green removed from the Greenbelt and allocated for housing. They were turned down this time. Click the link below to see the Cemex site marked as "Borough Green Sandpit" on the map.

Borough Green Parish Council Meeting    Church of the Good Shepherd Annexe  1st October 2007

Cllr Perry proposes that an application be made to the Boundaries Commission to move the Borough Green Parish Council Boundary northward towards its "natural position" along the M26.

I wonder what they are up to now? And all in our name!

I wonder if ALL our Parish Councillors are aware of what they are getting into?
